Connections - either real or implied - are the focus of my "Tethered Alliances" series of artwork.
I work with stoneware clay to make free standing and wall-hung abstract work. I experiment by combining other types of materials with clay, often using fabric, metals, wire, leather, etc., to form a physical alliance between clay pieces. Occasionally, representational imagery crops up as I develop these process pieces.
Inspiration is found as I go about my daily routine, experiencing the connections and disconnections in my interactions with people, places and things. As wordplay is a personal passion, I title my pieces with figures of speech, common idioms and curious word groupings, hoping to suggest meaning as well as ignite curiosity about the correlation between title and artwork.
I think this series of work is complete. My current inspiration is leading me in another direction. Life changes - including art.
